ISI Introduces Next-Generation Thermal Imaging Camera,
Setting New Standards for Speed, Resiliency and Ease of Use.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — International Safety Instruments (ISI), the company that introduced the first BST thermal imaging cameras for firefighters, has released a next-generation thermal imager featuring instant-on responsiveness, longer battery life, greater resiliency and simplified operation.

The ISI 2500 Thermal Imager is the latest product innovation from the manufacturer of technologically advanced respiratory protection and thermal imaging equipment. Operational in three seconds, the handheld ISI 2500 is ready when the firefighter needs it most, according to Tim McDonald, Thermal Imaging Product Manager.

“Whether quickly locating the seat of the fire, conducting Rapid Intervention Team rescue, or sizing up the scene fast, this imager needs no standby mode to be instantly available or to extend the life of a fully charged battery,” he said. Its rechargeable battery is designed to operate a minimum of four hours, thus eliminating the need to change batteries while at the fire scene.

Thermal imagers use infrared detection to convert thermal radiation into video images. Initially used by firefighters solely to “see through smoke,” ISI’s thermal imagers now provide valuable, time-saving information for rapid scene analysis to find hidden fires, structural degradation, hazardous environmental conditions and high spot temperatures.

The ISI 2500 sets new standards for resiliency. Designed to withstand a 10-foot drop and remain operational – still functioning without having to restart – it is IP67 waterproof, with or without a battery in place. It also meets the most stringent requirements for vibration tolerance and features fire resistant straps, bumpers, outer shells and battery housings, all of which have passed flame testing similar to that used for breathing apparatus.

The ISI 2500 employs state-of-the-art, uncooled thermal imaging technology from Raytheon Commercial Infrared, which provides the highest .
