New, High-Performance ISI Frontier
Is Lowest Cost SCBA for Industrial Users.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — International Safety Instruments
Inc. (ISI), the manufacturer of technologically advanced
respiratory protection equipment, has introduced the
ISI Frontier, an inexpensive, easy-to-use, self-contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA) designed exclusively for
industrial users.
The ISI Frontier sets a new standard for industrial SCBAs
by combining high-performance features with simplicity
of use and maintenance – all at the lowest cost
of ownership of any available SCBA. It is built for reliable
use in a wide range of industries, including mining, chemical,
pharmaceuticals and petrochemical.
"In many industrial settings, SCBAs are essential
equipment but not used every day," said Ernie Younkins,
SCBA Product Manager for ISI. "We saw the need for
a user-friendly, non-complicated device that stands ready
to perform whenever it is needed. That’s the ISI
Frontier."
The new SCBA provides a protection factor of 10,000 and
uses ISI’s patented, positive-pressure, compact
demand valve (CDV) to deliver high air-flow rates far
exceeding NIOSH standards and significantly reducing breathing
resistance. A shoulder-mounted, low-pressure alarm is
standard equipment.
Available with either a comfortable, snug-fitting facemask
or a positive-pressure hood (for users with facial hair
or eyeglasses), the ISI Frontier’s ergonomic design
also features a lightweight backframe with built-in carry
handles.
With very few moving parts, the rugged ISI Frontier is
simple to maintain and may be serviced easily in the field.
It can accommodate cylinders rated at 2216 or 4500 psi,
with cylinder durations of 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
Optional equipment includes an airline attachment for
extending use with supplied air, a manual bypass for emergency
egress, a “buddy breather” for sharing air
supply, lightweight cylinders, and a carry case.
